Why would you tell someone to try True40?
True40 is fun, high energy, and low impact. Every fitness level will feel challenged and encouraged during class, and you will leave feeling energized and strong.
What are you deathly afraid of?
I’m am afraid of sharks and have a healthy respect for all ocean creatures. I love the beach, but you won’t find me out past the sandbar on anything less than a motorized boat.
If you were stuck on a desert island, what 3 things would you bring?
On a desert island, I would need my family, my kindle with an endless supply of books, and my Tempurpedic pillow.
What is one item on your bucket list?
Take an extended family trip to Europe.
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I’m a major introvert. As a teacher and instructor it always surprises people to know I’m super shy, but I just love interacting with all kinds of people and taking on challenges that put me outside my comfort zone.
Where are you from and where did you grow up?
I grew up in Hoover, Alabama and am currently living in Homewood.
What brought you to Auburn/Birmingham and what do you do here outside of True40?
After college at the University of Alabama, I moved back to Birmingham for my first job as my husband, Jess, started his first year of Dental School at UAB. I worked in management before starting graduate school to become a high school English teacher. I taught fitness classes throughout grad school and taught high school for two years before I became a mama! Now I stay at home with my sweet babies!
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Work hard and find time to rest! You need one to make the most of the other.
How do you love your body and stay true to you?
With multiple pregnancies under my belt I am very familiar with the strength of a woman’s body, but also the hardships in both mind and body that comes with constant change. I am intentional about the food I eat, thinking of it as fuel and try to help my family do the same. My husband and I are active and bring our kiddos along as we move and exercise together!
Why is fitness important to you?
Fitness keeps my body working better, more efficiently and at a higher capacity. It’s also fun! It’s a great way to clear my mind and prioritize my health.
